Gender-affirming support groups can be healing spaces for our community members to grieve, empathize, and gather together as a collective. Below are a variety of virtual, free, and gender-affirming support groups to bookmark for you and anyone else you know could benefit from these spaces.

Digital Security for Activists on the Go | 18 Million Rising and Tiny Gigantic

Digital Security for Activists on the Go is a 1.5 hr training covering best practices to protect your devices, data, and communications when traveling in your community or out of town. Hosted by 18 Million Rising and Tiny Gigantic with a special Know Your Rights presentation led by Emi Maclean, Senior Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Northern California, this training is for activists, organizers, and anyone who is part of a targeted community and at risk of harassment.

Trans Talk: A Trans Masc Support Group | Los Angeles Spoonie Collective Support Groups

Los Angeles Spoonie Collective Support Groups are unstructured spaces where folks can connect to, and offer mutual aid with others who share similar life experiences and struggles. All support groups are facilitated by members of LASC. This support group happens every other month.

This group intends to provide transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse graduate students who identify as BIPOC a space to heal, process, engage in peer mentorship, and community care, as we strive for collective wellness. QTBIPOC Space | Institute for Human Identity

The QTBIPOC Space is a therapeutic, online space for queer and transgender Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (QTBIPOC) to process their experiences. This space provides support, shares coping skills, builds safe and affirming community, and fosters individual and collective strength and resiliency.

CripCreate, hosted in collaboration with Calling Up Justice, is a weekly online co-working and socializing space by and for all Disabled (sick, Disabled, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, low vision/blind, neurodiverse, or otherwise chronically ill) people.

Transform Gender Collective (TGC) is a support and discussion group for transmasculine and masculine-of-center Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) to learn about transformative justice, unlearn toxic gendered behaviors, and imagine what masculinity could look like outside of the gender binary. This month’s meeting is focused on spirituality and transformative justice.

Burnt Out Activist Club & QTPoC Mediation | Rest for Resistance

Rest for Resistance’s Burnt Out Activist Club is an online support group for QTIBIPOC activists. Their team also holds a QTPoC Meditation for queer and trans people of color, which hosts three online events every month: stillness practice, movement practice, and restful yoga.

Breath Circle for Collective Capacity | Healing Justice London

Breath Circle for Collective Capacity is a gathering space for grounding with Healing Justice Ldn. This regular space is held for light stretching, breathing and meditative practice. It’s a space that scaffolds and staggers levels of participation, so that you can opt in to what supports you and your body to feel safer. Grief & Care Under Capitalism | A Sacred Passing & Leillani Mexera

Grief & Care Under Capitalism is a monthly grieving space and participatory support group for anyone feeling exploited and exhausted by capitalism. Justice Producer’s Collaborative | Calling Up Justice

The Justice Producer’s Collaborative, holds synchronous (cultivation calls and organizing calls) and asynchronous connective space (Discord server) so Justice producers can tend to their virtual community garden in a way that reflects shared power and decision-making. Cultivation calls are 90 minutes of relationship building, signal boosting, peer support, and meaning making. They occur in an auto-captioned Zoom meeting space.

The Network/La Red has a 24/7 hotline with free and confidential phone based support groups for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC survivors of partner abuse. Call their hotline at 800-832-1901 for more information.

THRIVE Lifeline has a 24/7, non-carceral text-based identity and mental health crisis line run by and for marginalized individuals.

Crisis Call Line | BlackLine

Call BlackLine® provides a space for peer support, counseling, reporting of mistreatment, witnessing and affirming the lived experiences for folxs who are most impacted by systematic oppression with an LGBTQ+ Black Femme Lens. BlackLine is non-judgmental, affirming and supportive, listener-witnessing and information gathering about your experience.
