Gender-Affirming Support Groups

Gender-affirming support groups can be healing spaces for our community members to grieve, empathize, and gather together as a collective. Below are a variety of virtual, free, and gender-affirming support groups to bookmark for you and anyone else you know could benefit from these spaces.

EUPHORIA HOUR! A Trans & Non-binary Graduate Student Kiki | House of Denise

House of Denise is hosting a Euphoria Hour,a new, free virtual kiki of games and gaeity for trans, non-binary, genderfluid, agender, two-spirit, and intersex graduate students.

Breath Circle for Collective Capacity | Healing Justice London

Breath Circle for Collective Capacity is a gathering space for grounding with Healing Justice Ldn. This regular space is held for light stretching, breathing and meditative practice. It’s a space that scaffolds and staggers levels of participation, so that you can opt in to what supports you and your body to feel safer. Navigating Grief for Newcomers, Immigrants, & Refugees | BIPOC Death & Grief Talk & East Mississauga CHC

East Mississauga CHC and BIPOC Grief Talks will be hosting a safe spaces to discuss, share, and unpack the experiences of immigration, food security, and the holiday seasons. This program is especially designed for those who identify as a newcomer, immigrant, refugee, a racialized person or member of the global majority.

Rooted Respite hosts a monthly community support call, a loosely structured space for folks to build community with other social changemakers and get peer support.

Yoga Airflow for Love and Freedom | Healing Justice London

Healing Justice London hosts Yoga Airflow for Love and Freedom, a bi-weekly support space held by Healing Justice Ldn. You are invited to take your time flowing with the elements, whilst feeling divinely connected and supported to embrace your whole self unapologetically. Within these sessions you will experience breath work, mindful movement, postures and guided relaxation with encouragement for each person in the session to check in and listen to their bodies.

FreeCare is a free, peer support group for workers, organizers, and artists to discuss harms of capitalism to workplace/organizing issues, incarceration/ abolition, and more. All meetings are currently virtual and the group meets every second Tuesday of each month with CT Grapevine.

Healing and Making Circle | Emerging Arts Professionals

Emerging Arts Professionals holds Healing & Marking Circle, a virtual space for arts and culture workers to deepen their personal arts practice once per month. This virtual space is intended to inspire attendees to regularly create, even if just for a lunch hour.

Trans Talk: A Trans Masc Support Group | Los Angeles Spoonie Collective Support Groups

Los Angeles Spoonie Collective Support Groups are unstructured spaces where folks can connect to, and offer mutual aid with others who share similar life experiences and struggles. All support groups are facilitated by members of LASC. This support group happens every other month.

Healing & Wellness Grad Group for Transgender, Nonbinary, Gender Diverse Black, Indigenous, Students of Color | Gabe Lockett, Marquel Norton

This group intends to provide transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse graduate students who identify as BIPOC a space to heal, process, engage in peer mentorship, and community care, as we strive for collective wellness. Utilizing a Black femme praxis, this group hopes to engage in self love, self awareness, and collective liberation.

QTBIPOC Space | Institute for Human Identity

The QTBIPOC Space is a therapeutic, online space for queer and transgender Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (QTBIPOC) to process their experiences. This space provides support, shares coping skills, builds safe and affirming community, and fosters individual and collective strength and resiliency.

Crafting Abolition, hosted by Let’s Get Free and Black Unicorn Library, is a virtual drop-in space to create, craft, imagine, and relate.

CripCreate | In collaboration with Calling Up Justice

CripCreate, hosted in collaboration with Calling Up Justice, is a weekly online co-working and socializing space by and for all Disabled (sick, Disabled, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, low vision/blind, neurodiverse, or otherwise chronically ill) people.

Upcoming meeting: Weekly on Wednesdays 1:00-3:00pm PDT (GMT-7) and Saturdays, 4-6 p.m. PDT (GMT-7). 

Monthly Meeting | Transform Gender Collective

Transform Gender Collective (TGC) is a support and discussion group for transmasculine and masculine-of-center Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) to learn about transformative justice, unlearn toxic gendered behaviors, and imagine what masculinity could look like outside of the gender binary. This month’s meeting is focused on spirituality and transformative justice.

Burnt Out Activist Club & QTPoC Mediation | Rest for Resistance

Rest for Resistance’s Burnt Out Activist Club is an online support group for QTIBIPOC activists. Their team also holds a QTPoC Meditation for queer and trans people of color, which hosts three online events every month: stillness practice, movement practice, and restful yoga.

Grief & Care Under Capitalism | A Sacred Passing & Leillani Mexera

Grief & Care Under Capitalism is a monthly grieving space and participatory support group for anyone feeling exploited and exhausted by capitalism. This is a facilitated drop-in group space with conversation directed by participants, so you can join once or several times, with no need to commit to multiple sessions. The group is free, though donations to A Sacred Passing and Leilani Maxera are always welcomed.

ProjectQ will be hosting Tea 4 T, a free biweekly peer support group for POC transmasculine youth ages 17 to 27 to talk about their experiences, build community, and learn valuable skills. Maximum attendance of our support group is 15 participants to make sure everyone has a chance to speak and to be heard without being rushed. This session will be held on Zoom on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of every month at 6 pm-7:30 pm PST.

Covid Cautious Action for Palestine is a weekly COVID-cautious event. Hosted by Centering Palestine, these events are organized by community members including Palestinian, Jewish, and ally contributors. Justice Producer’s Collaborative | Calling Up Justice

The Justice Producer’s Collaborative, holds synchronous (cultivation calls and organizing calls) and asynchronous connective space (Discord server) so Justice producers can tend to their virtual community garden in a way that reflects shared power and decision-making. Cultivation calls are 90 minutes of relationship building, signal boosting, peer support, and meaning making. They occur in an auto-captioned Zoom meeting space.

The Network/La Red has a 24/7 hotline with free and confidential phone based support groups for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC survivors of partner abuse. Call their hotline at 800-832-1901 for more information.

THRIVE Lifeline has a 24/7, non-carceral text-based identity and mental health crisis line run by and for marginalized individuals.

Crisis Call Line | BlackLine

Call BlackLine® provides a space for peer support, counseling, reporting of mistreatment, witnessing and affirming the lived experiences for folxs who are most impacted by systematic oppression with an LGBTQ+ Black Femme Lens. BlackLine is non-judgmental, affirming and supportive, listener-witnessing and information gathering about your experience.
